Listen. Jesus came into the world and died to save sinners and I, Chase Lamarr Jones, am the very WORST sinner of all…But God had mercy on me so that He could use me as an example of His patience with the worst sinners. That way YOU, yes you reading this now, can see that you’re NOT too messed up to receive forgiveness and eternal life.
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. (1 Timothy 1:15-16 ESV)
Christianity is NOT about being a “good person”. There are no good people, Christian or not.
Christianity is about admitting you’re broken and not in control of your life, and believing that Jesus Christ died as the punishment for your sins so that you can be seen as “good” in God’s sight.
None is righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3:10 ESV)
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1 ESV)
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 ESV)
Something to Consider
If you are claiming to be a Christian, but you are living a life that’s totally opposite of the way God instructs us to live and you are comfortable in that, then you really need to reevaluate your faith.
Not everyone who claims to be a Christian will be in heaven.
Not everyone who claims to be a Christian will receive the mercy that Jesus died for. Only those who truly follow Jesus.
You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. I Never Knew You “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:16-23 ESV)
